, 1778 Wad 109 , probably a compound of geoc 1 ' ayoke ' and sīc ' stream ' , probably with some such sense as that in Yokefleet Ess , ' that which couples ' ; the stream is on the county boundary at Widdop Cross where the old road to Lancashire passes between two mountains .
