Wainstalls, Waynestalles , Wainestalles 1525WCR 3d, 1624 Greave, Wainstalls 1709 WMB, 1733FGr 34. 'Wagon sheds', v. wægn , stall . The second el. frequently denotes 'a cattle-stall', and in this p.n. probably has an extension of meaning to something like 'a shed in which wagons were kept'.
