This is named from Soureby-feld 1455 HAS 21, 4, 1492MinAcct , the cultivated open land belonging to Sowerby (v. feld), from which also the local family del Fe (i )ld (e ) (1307, 1323 WCR, 1309 Ext) was named; it lay between the village and Field Ho.
