Heckden (lost), Heckedenbanc 1268 YD i, Hekden '1392MinAcct 88, Hekdeyne 1399 HAS 6, Hekedeyn 1487 WYD, probably from OE  hæcc 'hatch, gate' in one of its applications (cf. EPN i, 213), denu 'valley'.
