Baiting Houses 203infra . The earlier spellings with -inges are against a compound with ON eng 'meadow'; v. clōh 'dell'. Baitings was a vaccary and from the reference in 1309 Ext that cattle should be moved from Saltonstall to Baitings in the summer it was a summer pasture.
