Etymology

Miry Wall, Myrewall , Mirewall 1499WCR 4, 1575 Stansf, 1591 WillY, 1709 WMB, Mirywale 1624 Greave, Mirywall 1839ValS , Mireywalle 1624 ib. In view of the compound, this is probably a compound of mýrr 'marsh' (later miry 'marshy') and Merc  wælla, ME  (WMidl ) walle , 'a well, spring'.
