Etymology

'Wæddi's enclosure', v. worð ; on the OE  pers.n. Wæd (d )i cf. Wadsley i, 213supra . There is no village of Wadsworth and the exact site of the original settlement in this large township is not known, unless Old Town infra marks it (95–0028).
