Addersgate, Hardrichegate 1392MinAcct 88, Hayderychegate , Hatyrechegate 1406WCR , Adrishgate 1536 Rent, Atheryshgate 1575 PRHfx, Atherisgate 1699WCR 6d, Addersgate 1709 WMB. The forms are somewhat discrepant, but in all probability this is from the OE  pers.n. Æþelric or Ēadric and gata 'road'.
