Etymology

Oaks (lost), del Okes 1316 WCR (p), (le ) Okes 1590 WillY, 1622 HAS 15, 216, 1666 ib 34, 119, Lower Okes 1657 ib 118, Over Okes 1719 ib 120, Oakes 1648 WillY, v. āc 'oaktree'. Over Oaks became the site of the original Rishworth School at Goat Ho under the Wheelwright foundation; Lower Oaks was at Slithero (cf. HAS 52, 79).
