Fallingworth Hall, Faldyngworth 1379 PT (p), 1538MinAcct 56.Since this p.n. occurs frequently, as in Faldingworth L, Follingworth ii, 197, ii, 309, iii, 22, iii, 34 supra , iii, 75, (Bingley) pt. iv infra and Fordingworth, Foldingworth ii, 142, iii, 6, Faldeworthyng i, 289, it is unlikely to be from the OE  pers.n. Falda , but appears to be a fixed compound from OE  falding-word 'enclosure for folding livestock', v. falding , worð .
