Etymology

Blacker (lost), (the ) Blacker 1307, 1331 WCR, 1461MinAcct , the Blackkerre 1351 HAS 4, 58, Blacker in Hipperam 1405WCR 4, Blakker 1492MinAcct . 'Black marsh', v. blæc , kjarr , cf. Blacker i, 292supra . The place was in the Shibden valley, probably near Horley Green (cf. HAS 7, 94).
