Etymology

'Brunulf's hill', v. hēafod , the hill being that near the junction of the Kent and the Sprint by Burneside Hall in Strickland Roger (i, 158infra ). The pers.n. may be an OE  Brūnwulf suggested for Burnaston (Db 543) but not otherwise recorded, or in this case it may be OG  Brunulf (FörstemannPN 341) or an Anglicised form of ON  Brynjolfr .
