Watercrook, Wat (t )ercrook (e )1578, 1591et freq to 1627 PR(K), 1671 Kend iii, 112. 'Land in the bend of a river', v. wæter , krókr ; 'the river [Kent] washes three sides of the ground about it' (1750 Pococke 43), and it is the site of the Roman fort at Alauna (supra ).
