Etymology

Ladyford, le Lady Fourd 1507Lowth (Ke 24), Ladyford (e )1525 Kend i, 363, 1556 ib 256, 1557FF et freq to 1692Dep , Ladyfoordes 1619 Kend i, 274. Probably 'ford belonging to the lady (of the manor)', or 'ford which could easily be crossed by a lady', v. hlǣfdige , ford ; the ford was doubtless one across a small beck 200 yards east of the farm.
