Etymology

Barsneb, Barsness (sic)1481 RipAct, Barsneb (b )1598 PRRip, 1625 FFet freq to 1813 Hudleston, Barsneb greene 1672Dep , Barsnip-close 1776 Hudleston, Basneb 1817 M. The second el. is probably OE  nebb 'bill, beak, nose' used in some topographical sense such as that of 'projecting hill' or the like. The first is doubtful but could be ME  berse 'hedge, enclosed part of a forest'.
