Etymology

Bos Ait (old 6″) is Boreseyt 1232, Borsete 1332 Chertsey, Borseyte c. 1432 ib., Boseyte 1605LRMB , and was clearly in the neighbourhood of the Boresburghe of 675 (13th) BCS 34. These names would seem to involve the same personal name Bār which is found in Husbands Bosworth (Lei), DBBareswerde , t. Hy 2 (1318) Ch Baresworth , 1316 FA Boresworth . For such names cf. Eofor , which is on record.
