Etymology
Brox is Brocks 1719 Aubrey, 1728 Cox, 1826 G, Brox 1823 Br, and would seem to be identical with Brochurst 1201 Chertsey, t. Hy 3For (p), 1332 SR (p), with later contraction as in Dux from Dukersh (PN D 136) and Bucks from Buckish (ib. 81). If so, the meaning is 'badger wood,' v. brocc , hvrst .
