Etymology

Rumshot Hill is Runhamstede 1268 Chertsey, Ronehamstede 1516 ib., Romstedhill 1605LRMB . The second element is hamstede. The first is probably OE  hruna , 'tree-stump,' as noted under Runfold infra 172.
