Hummer Lane (6″) is Le Humber 1522 Turner, Humber Lane 1719 Aubrey, Humber Meadow 1842TA . Cf. Humber Meadow in Leverton (Nt), Humburmedewe 1374 Cl. Humber is a common stream-name in England (RN 201 ff.), but Humber Meadow is by the Trent and there is no stream at Hummer Lane, though it is in low-lying land. No suggestion can be made as to the etymology.
