Hr Lowness & Lr Lowness , Lowness Md & Lowness Lane 1839TA , most probably to be associated with Loueneye 1293 FF which is perhaps ' Lufa's well-watered land ' , or ' Lufa's dry spot in marshy ground ' , from the OE  pers.n. Lufa ( gen . - n ) and ēg , with later ' manorial ' - s ; for the pers. n. cf. Lovard 1318 , Luton 2292 , Luppitt PN D 641 .
