, possibly a modern rationalization ( appropriate in describing the lane 's somewhat meandering course ) of Wynelynglane (forlang )(probably for Wyuelynglane (forlang )) 1313 Cl , the first part of which is from OE  wifel ' beetle ' , or an OE  pers.n. Wifel ( cf. also Wyuelestenement 1415GillCt ) , and - ing 2 , hence ' beetleinfested place ' or ' Wifel's place ' , cf. Wifelinge 949 (m10)BCS 880 ( K , v. KPN 97, 283, EPN 1289 ) .
