Etymology

Beam Bridge (110–652535) [biːm], Beambridge (110–648536), le Beem E1AddCh , 1340Eyre (p), le Bembrugg 1302–6AddCh , le Beembrugge 1344Eyre (p), (the ) Beame Bridge 1527, 1621, 1646 Sheaf, Beam-bridge 1643 Orm2, Beam-bridge in Acton 1660AddCh , cf. le Beame medo (w )e 1508, 1554AddCh , the Beam meadow 1573ib , Beame Bridge Feild 1639 Orm2, Beame Bridge Meadow 1697AddCh , 'bridge made of a beam, or of beams', v. bēam , brycg . The original structure seems to have been made of a single beam. The bridge crosses R. Weaver from Worleston into Nantwich township, 36supra , and gives name to the hamlet in Worleston, to Beam St. and Beam Heath in Nantwich 32, 36supra , and to the Nantwich f.n. (The ) Beame medowe 1530, 1550AddCh .
