Etymology

This may be a second example of the name Sugworth (PN Berks 108), from the pers. name Sucga and worþ , cf. also Sugworthy (D), but as all the earliest forms are from pers. names, perhaps it is manorial, taking its name from some settler from the Berkshire place, and the form should really now be Sugworths (cf. the modern pronunciation with final z ).
