Etymology
Barnsnape Fm (6″) is Brandeslep 1255 FF, Bransnape 1607 ParReg, Brentsnape 1618 ParReg. The first element is probably the same as that found in Brantridge supra 255. It is difficult to say what the second is unless the earliest form is corrupt and we really have the word snape discussed above under Snapelands 28supra .
