Etymology

'Scēot's spring', from an OE  pers.n. Scēot and wælla 'a spring, a well, a stream'. The TA fields became Davenport Golf Course (cf. Davenport infra ) where not built over, and here arose a small stream running westward into Adswood 248supra .
