Etymology

Stroodland Fm (6″) is Pantryes Strod (e )lond in 1419 and 1454 (Pat) and probably was the home of Richard atte Strode (1296 SR). v. strod . Pantryes must come from the name of its sometime owner. For such a name, cf. Robert atte Panetrye in 1332 (SR) in Aldingbourne.
