Harsfold Manor

Historical Forms

  • Hursefold 1279 Ass
  • Hasfold 1823 G

Etymology

The first identification is by no means certain and is difficult to reconcile with the later one. If the John Hasfolde assessed under Dunhurst and Howyk in 1332 (SR) came from here it is probable that the early form is corrupt or else the identification faulty. In any case no etymology can be suggested.
