Streak's Gill (6″) is land called le Strake 1310 Pens, Straks 1605 Pashley MSS . Presumably this is the word strake used of a narrow strip of land, v. NEDs. v. Further examples of this word as a field-name are to be found in le Strake (1427), Longestrake (1399, 1467), The strokes (1606).
