Etymology

High Edser (6″) is High Edsaue 1704Rental and was the home of William de Egeshawe (1332 SR), Robert Eggyshawe (1372 FF), William Edshawe (1462 SAC xviii) and John Edsawe (1596 SrWills). This is probably 'Ecgi 's haga or enclosure,' though it might represent OE  Ecgan sceaga , 'Ecga 's shaw or wood.' It is called Highedger Fm in the first edition of the 6″ O.S. map.
