These names mark a district in Weaverham, Winnington, Hartford, Castle Northwich and Wallerscote, which is recorded as le Bache c.1240JRC , c.1260 (1400) CASNS xiii102, Bachemosse e14JRC , le Bach '1334 VR, Bachemoos 1338 ib (84, where a lawsuit decided land here was in Winnington not Weaverham), la Bachoe Mosse 1399 ChRR. The p.n. is '(moss at) the valley stream', from bece 1 , bæce 1 , with mos . The bece was probably the valley at 110–627733. Catesbache infra may be an ancient manor in which all these places were included, no doubt named from the same topographical feature.
