Early-attested site in the Parish of Almondbury

Etymology

Binn, 1817 M, cf. Binboghe 1426Ramsd , Bean Side 1771 M, Binn Close & Binn Holes 1850TA . The theme Binn appears in several YW p.ns., Binn 273supra , Binns 289, Binns Hill iii, 126, Binn Royd iii, 54, Binns, Binns Top iii, 90infra . In one or two cases we may have the YW surname Binns (Binnes , Bynds , etc., esp. common in Halifax from the sixteenth century, PRHfx passim ). Mostly, however, it is from OE  binn 'a manger, a stall', and the surname Binns is probably of local origin from one or another of these places.
