Pitch Font Lane

Early-attested site in the Parish of Limpsfield

Pitch Font Lane (6″) is Pychefronte (sic)1391, Pichesfunte 1402, Pychezfount 1505 SAC vi. The second element is the rare OE  funta, 'spring,' found in Chalfont (PN Bk 218). The first element is uncertain. It might be the OFr personal name which seems to be found in the near-by Pitchers Wood infra 338.
