Itchingwood Common is Echenewode 1312AOMB . Cf. also Echenewode 1431 Chertsey, Echyn wood 1552 Pat (Coulsdon).The first element in these names is the OE  ǣcen , the adjective derived from ac, 'oak.' Hence 'oak wood.'
