Etymology
Grub's Fm (6″) is Musehurst 1263, Moushurst 1270Ass (both p), Musherstes 1312AOMB , Mouses 1585, Mouses or Grubbs 1784Egerton . The present name of the farm is to be associated with the family of John Grubbe (1430 SAC vi). The earlier name is 'mouse-wood,' v. hyrst . Cf. Mousehill supra 216 and Musbury (PN D 646).
