Etymology
Round Fleets, 1767 Comm, v. rond , flēot 'stream, inlet'. This is a circular piece of ground on the north side of the R. Nidd and separated by it from the rest of the township; the boundary marks an old course of the Nidd, which is noted as 'the old course of the Nidd' 1576 Wheater 60, and called Old Nidd 1767 Comm.
