Oakdale, (forest ' de ) Ockeden 1257 Wheater, 1280 Ch, 1372MinAcct , Okeden (e )1386, 1508 ib, Ockden 1613 Grainge 82, 1670 Hrg, Oakden 1858 O.S. 'Oak valley', v. āc , denu , replaced in recent times by dale (cf. Arkendale 104infra ). The stream is called Oak Beck (RNs.).
