Etymology

'Dairy-farm of the young men or attendants', v. clid , wīc , cf. Childwick Hrt 91. Initial K - is due to ON  influence and the spelling Kilder - is a vestige of the OE  gen.pl. cildra , which is unusual in p.ns.
