Hamble Thorp, Hamundthorp 1341 FF, Hamblethorpe 1592 FF, 1604 PRKld, Hamolthorp als. Hamonthorp 1595 FF, Humble thorp Park 1675 Og. 'Hamund's outlying farmstead', from the ON  pers.n. Hámundr , ME  Hamund (NP 63), and þorp . The modern form is due to the influence of the many p.ns. Hambleton, etc.
