Etymology

Hain Slack, Haineslacke 1659 WillS, Hain Slack 1731 PRKld, Thain Slack 1771 M. This is probably 'hollow near the enclosure', v. hegn , slakki . A connexion with Hainworth 4supra is improbable, as ON  slakki is a late el., whilst worð tends to belong to an earlier period.
