Etymology

Mousegill (lost), Mussegile 1189–1215 Puds, Musegile Ric 1, c. 1240 ib, Mousegilebanke Ed 1 ib, Mousgill 1342 ib, Mousegill meadow 1848TA . 'Músi's ravine', from the ON  pers.n. Músi and gil . It is of course formally possible for the first el. to be mūs 'mouse', hence 'mouse-infested ravine'.
