Etymology

'Thori's cross', v. cros . The pers.n. is ON  Þórir or Anglo-Scandinavian Þōr , Þūr (Feilitzen 390), which is a hypocoristic form of pers.ns. like ON  Þóraldr , Þorgils , Þorkell , etc. (and not the name of the Norse god Þórr ).
