Etymology

'Hund's enclosure', v. worð . OE  hund 'hound' was no doubt used as a pers.n. (Mawer, MLR xiv, 241–2), as with ON  Hundr , Hundi ; cf. OE  Hundeshlæw BCS 687, Houndsfield Wo 354, Hunningley i, 290supra .
