Wakefield

Parish in the County of West Riding of Yorkshire

Etymology

Wakefield is now a County Borough and includes the townships of Wakefield and Lupset from the old parish of Wakefield and the township of Sandal Magna (107supra ). The townships of Kirkhamgate, Outwood and Stanley now form Stanley Urban District. Alverthorpe with Thorns (in Wakefield township) was originally a separate township. Kirkhamgate, Lupset and Outwood townships were originally part of Stanley township.
