Etymology

Beggars Bridge Fm is named from Beggers Bridge 1687BLAcct .Cf. Beggers Drove End ib. In 1668 (ib.) a wooden bridge was built over Bevill's Leame near Beggersdyke (Beggers Dike 1637 BedL). The names are presumably of nickname origin. It is curious that the same term should have been applied to all three objects.
