Etymology
Branshill Fm is probably identical with Brembelshulle c. 1240 Pens. 'Hill of the bramble,' v. bremel , hyll . For a similar genitival compound, cf. Bremlesferd , Bremlesfricht (c. 1195, c. 1245 Pens), 'wood of the bramble,' v. fyrhþ .
