Etymology
St Pier's Fm and Lane (both 6″). Cf. St Pierces Green 1765 R, Simpier Green 1823 Br. So called from the dedication of the Collegiate church of Lingfield to St Peter (Pierre) (SAC vi).M and B (ii, 339) refers to Simpiere 's Green , evidently a colloquial pronunciation like [sindʒən] for St John, [selindʒə] for St Leger.
