Etymology

Meath Green (6″) is Muthgrene , Muthelane , Muthelonde c. 1350Chertsey , Methegrene 1569 Musters, Methgrene , Meathgrene t. ElizCt , Meth grene 1634 SAC viii, and was the home of William atte Muthe (1315ChertseyB ). The first element is OE  (ge)myðe, 'junction of two streams.' A stream joins the Mole here.
