Etymology
Greatlake Fm, Littlelake Fm are referred to as le Lake , Lakelond t. Hy 8MinAcct , the home of Richard ate Lake (1332 SR), the reference being to the streams here, one small, the other larger. v. lacu . It is highly probable that the place called æt lace , a denn attached to Merstham manor (BCS 820), is to be identified with one of these two places. v. infra 320.
