Etymology

The Knipp (6″) is terra de la Kneppe c. 1340 SAC xxiii, le Kneppe 1448Loseley , Knap t. Jas 1 ECP. This is OE  cnæpp, 'top, summit of a hill.' Cf Kniphill supra 89 and Knepp (PN Sx 189).
