Etymology

Godley Bridge (6″) is Godelebridge t. Hy 8MinAcct , and was the home of Geoffrey de Godelegh (1228 FF) and William de Godele (1332 SR). 'leahof Gōda ' (cf. Goodleigh (PN D 44)), if the name is of local origin but the family may have come from some other Godley (cf. the hundred-name supra 103).
